Helps Jason Statham generate buzz for his second film, Beekeeper 2.

During Amazon MGM Studios’ CinemaCon screening on Wednesday, the star appeared in a pre-recorded clip, pouring honey into tea while introducing exclusive clips from the new film.

The footage showed Statham’s character, former government assassin Adam Clay, learning that the Beekeepers, an elite secret human intelligence organization charged with protecting the United States and operating above government jurisdiction, has gone awry and will kill anyone in its path.

The group kidnaps the President, with Jeremy Irons’ character Wallace Westwild, the former CIA director, telling Clay that he is the only one who “can stop all this madness.” And so Clay jumps into action, using plenty of machine guns, a flamethrower, and, at one point, even using bees as a weapon as he sets out to make things right.

Amazon MGM Studios is set to release director Timo Tjahjanto’s film in theaters on January 14, 2027. David Ayer directed the 2024 original, which has grossed over $160 million at the global box office.

Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jamie Redgrave are among the cast members reprising their roles from the first film, while newcomers to the series include Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland.

Last year, Iyer spoke to Hollywood Reporter About feeling grateful for success beekeeper. “I made this film on the thesis of making something for the audience and deliberately making a commercial film,” the director said. “At the same time, I was offering my filmmaker’s heart. To get this work, I don’t want to say I was surprised, but it was definitely really restorative.”

CinemaCon is the annual event for Hollywood exhibitors and studios that takes place this year from April 13-16. It’s the official convention of Cinema United.
