'Man of Tomorrow': Adria Arjona Joins David Corenswet in James Gunn's 'Superman 2'

Adria Arjona has officially joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow, the highly anticipated Superman sequel directed by James Gunn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adria has been finalized for the David Corenswet-led film after several rounds of screen tests.

Although she has been confirmed to have joined the cast, her role has been kept secret.

Early reports doing the rounds suggested she might take on the role of Maxima’s anti-hero in DC Comics. If the hype turns out to be true, the cast may hint that the plot will take a more cosmic tack, with Maxima being portrayed as an alien queen who was an adversary and potential lover of Superman. However, with Brainiac (played by Lars Edinger) already announced as the main villain, it remains to be seen what role she will play.

Amid casting news, James Gunn took to his social media accounts to share a photo of David dressed as Superman with the caption, “Superman at rest.”

The film will see David Corenswet reprise his role as Superman, alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor who is said to team up to take on their new foe. Fan buzz also seems to point to Arjuna being cast as DC’s potential new Wonder Woman. However, there is no confirmation about the same.

Several cast members from the previous installment are also set to return, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Schumacher, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Eddie Gathegi as Mr. Terrific. Additionally, Aaron Bier is set to reprise his role as Green Lantern John Stewart.“Man of Tomorrow” is scheduled to be released on July 9, 2027. The film is the follow-up to “Superman,” which grossed $618.7 million worldwide.DC Studios has not made an official comment on the casting.
