Sony Pictures helped brighten up CinemaCon at first glance Clara and the sun.
Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams star in Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s dystopian sci-fi novel. The studio revealed on Monday that the film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 23.
“It’s a hopeful story about friendship and connection in a time when technology makes us feel lonely,” Nicole Brown, president of TriStar Pictures, told the crowd. Clara and the sun Ortega stars as Clara, a solar-powered robot whose goal is to help the humans around her.
“How will I know if my personality and I are a good match?” Ortega asks in the trailer.
The footage shows Mia Tharia as Josie, a sick girl who chooses to bring Clara home. This leads her mother, played by Adams, to ask incredulously: “This one? She looks tired.”
Waititi, whose last directorial effort was 2023 The next goal winsHe directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Dahvi Waller. Waititi produces alongside David Heyman, Jeffrey Clifford, Rosie Allison and Garrett Bash.

CinemaCon is the annual event for Hollywood exhibitors and studios that takes place this year from April 13-16. It’s the official convention of Cinema United.
