David Letterman shares his thoughts on CBS’ decision to replace The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with Unleash Comics with Byron Allen.
The former TV host and comedian reacted to the news during a recent conversation about Barbara Gaines Show. Letterman hosted Late Show For more than two decades, from 1993 to 2015, when Colbert took office.
“They don’t want to spend any money, so they’ll make money,” he said. “They charge Byron Allen a fair price. He sells all the advertising for themselves Comics unleashedand I think it’s going to be 90 minutes or two hours of comics talking about funny things.
Letterman continued, “The show is a very good idea. Everything is a painting. Nobody is doing any posing, except they’re sitting.”

The switch would likely make CBS more profitable in late night, as Allen buys time from the network to air his shows. Allen Media Group will also sell advertising spots available during the two hours.
