Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Medha Rupam said the increase was approved by a high-level committee and approved by the Chief Minister late on Monday night.

Under the new rates, unskilled workers in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad will earn $13690 per month, up from $11,313. You will get semi-skilled workers $15,059 while skilled workers will get 15,059 $16868 according to an official statement.

In other municipal areas, monthly wages are set at $13,006 for unskilled workers, $14,306 for semi-skilled workers $16,025 for skilled workers.

As for the remaining areas, unskilled workers will gain $12,356 monthly semi-skilled workers $13,591 and skilled workers $15,224.

The government said the decision came after consultations with employer groups and labor organizations, with suggestions and objections reviewed to reach a “balanced and practical” result.

Protests in Noida

The review comes after widespread protests by factory workers in Noida on Monday, with thousands demanding higher wages and better working conditions. The demonstrations turned into violence in some areas, prompting the government to form a committee to address the situation and communicate with workers and employers.

According to the government statement, the industry is currently facing global and economic challenges. The prices of raw materials needed for industries rose, and exports decreased. Moreover, the problems and demands raised by workers are relevant, important and worthy of consideration. In such a situation, it is necessary to reach a decision by adopting a harmonious and balanced approach between the two parties – industry and workers. In this context, provisions relating to wages and salaries, including minimum wage provisions under the new Wage Law, were designed to protect the interests of workers.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the public to trust only information received from official sources. He also asked employers’ organizations to ensure that workers receive their monthly wages in accordance with the rules, regular overtime payments, weekly leaves, bonuses, and all social security rights, while ensuring the safety and respect of women workers in the workplace.
