Ranveer Singh and his father-in-law Prakash Padukone have collaborated on a new ad that has taken social media by storm due to its sarcastic humour. The actor and the badminton legend have teamed up for a new promotional campaign, their first on-screen project together.
The actor was seen being the perfect father to the girl, as he picked up a toy unicorn while Prakash also picked up a cute sheep ice cream.
The two then head to the cinema where Ranveer buys them movie tickets.
Fans spot the poster of ‘Bhavandar: The Tornado’.
Interestingly, the movie that the two were scheduled to watch was titled ‘Bhavandar: The Tornado’. Besides carrying buckets of popcorn with the movie poster, fans also noticed the large flyer displayed on the screens behind Ranveer and Prakash.
It didn’t take long to wonder if the poster was a subtle response to YouTuber Dhruv Rathi’s criticism of Singh’s box office hits ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
Fans react to the alleged dig
Many social media users interpreted the pictures as “propaganda” by Singh and Padukone. Responding to the comments, one fan said: “The ‘bhavandar’ post was behind them though,” while another added: “Dhruv Rathi’s bhavandar was funny.”
Another said: “Wait, I’m crying, the advertised movie is BHAVANDAR.” Another added: “This is a very meta joke… Bhavandar…”
About controversy
Rathi courted controversy with his video criticizing Aditya Dhar’s film, alleging that it pushed a political narrative. His comments and criticism of the film sparked widespread reactions online, with audiences supporting his views and others defending the film’s creative choices.
The success of the film “Dhurandhar” at the box office
Despite the criticism, ‘Dhurandhar’ went on to become the first film to cross Rs 3,000 crore mark with just two films. While the first part has grossed Rs 1,300 crore worldwide, the second part has crossed the Rs 1,700 crore mark in just 24 days. With the film expected to hit theaters for a few more weeks, it is now chasing the box office records of ‘Pushpa 2’ and ‘Baahubali 2’.
