The ‘Umrao Jaan’ singer, whose career spans over a decade, has sung in several languages. She holds the Guinean book world record for the most recorded artists. From playful cabaret songs to peppy ghazal songs, Asha Bhosle has sung in all musical genres. Thus, when Salman Zaman remembers her, he says, “She gave Bollywood true diversity. Thanks to her, the industry discovered that a singer could easily move from the softest tunes to livelier dances.”

“There is no comparison. From ‘Duniya Mein Logon Ko’ to ‘Salona Sa Sajan’, it defined an era and inspired generations,” he continues.He concluded by saying, “It is a loss to us, but heaven celebrates her arrival. Her voice will live forever.”

Asha Bhosle Dies: All about the last rites of the National Award-winning singer

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Asha Bhosle was hospitalized with a chest infection and extreme fatigue. The singer’s son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news of her death on Sunday, April 12, 2026, while addressing the media outside the hospital.

He also noted that Asha Bhosle’s last rites will be performed at 4 pm at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. The procession will start from her residence to Shivaji Park. Moreover, full state awards will be given to the national award winning singer. Her remains were placed in a glass coffin, draped in tricolor and decorated with white lilies. She was also honored with a ceremonial salute as part of the state’s honour.
