A horrific and tragic accident occurred on Monday on the Kalyan-Ahiliyanagar Expressway in Thane district of Maharashtra, leaving the region shaken. A cement mixer collided with a black and yellow Eeco taxi, killing 11 passengers, according to initial reports. The impact of the collision was so severe that the Eeco was completely crushed, making it difficult to even recognize its body.

According to available information, the accident occurred on Banjar Bridge at around 11:15 am. The Eeco vehicle was carrying residents of Murbad who were on their way to Kalyan. While the vehicle was crossing, it collided with a cement mixer coming from the opposite direction. The collision was so severe that the passengers did not have time to react.
There were a total of 12 passengers in the car. Local residents fear that 11 of them died on the spot, while one person survived with serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. Among them was an elderly woman who survived the accident.
Immediately upon hearing the strong sound of the explosion, the people of the area rushed to the scene to provide assistance. With heavy hearts, local residents helped retrieve the bodies from the completely damaged car. Titwala police arrived at the scene soon after and began operation panchnama. Although the official death toll has not yet been confirmed, there are fears that the number of victims may rise.

The exact cause of the accident is still unknown. It is not clear whether the driver lost control or excessive speed led to the accident. Titwala Police are conducting further investigations, and efforts are being made to remove the damaged vehicles from the road. Traffic on the highway was also affected for some time due to the accident.
Nine of the 11 deceased have been identified so far, and post-mortem examinations are currently underway. The names of the nine passengers are Prashant aka Bablu Rupesh Chandani, Bhushan Ghorpade, Jeja Govinda Kempari, Ananta Pawar, Deepak Gavle, Ganpat Jaino Madhe, Sneha Mohebe, Mansi Mohebe and Prathamesh Mohebe.
