Days after a security breach raised concerns in Delhi Parliament, the House received two bomb threats on Monday, threatening to “blow up the Vidhan Sabha with 15 RDX bombs filled with cyanide gas.” The threat also mentions the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The threatening emails, which were sent to the official ID of the Vidhansabha Sabha Secretariat and to the ID of Speaker Vijender Gupta, said the Delhi Assembly “will be blown up because SV Shekhar has been sent to South India and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) as a ‘BJP Brahmin agent’.”

The emails, written entirely in Hindi, and received on both handles, carry the same content. The threatening email, seen by HT, bore a headline that read: “Within 3 hours, we will carry out bomb blasts in Delhi Vidhan Sabha using 15 RDX bombs filled with cyanide gas. Only Muslim staff should be evacuated from the building.”

The email also refers to politics in Tamil Nadu ahead of the state assembly elections.

“Servants, no Brahmin should be part of DMK. If they become part of the party at all, they should chant ‘Periyar Ambedkar Zindabad’ slogan in a naked state. Only then will we allow them to be one among us,” the threat read.

It also states that SV Shekhar, ‘A Brahmin’, has joined the DMK. “This is why we will blow up your Vidhan Sabha because you sent it to South India and the DMK as a BJP Brahmin agent.”

Tamil Nadu is scheduled to go to the polls in a single phase on April 23, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4. Some of the key players in the state for the 2026 Assembly elections are the ruling DMK, the AIADMK, and the new player – Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
