At least 13 people were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident between a bus and a mini-truck in Bihar’s Katihar district, police said.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening on the NH-31 road in the Kuda area of Katihar under the jurisdiction of Korha police station, prompting local authorities and police to launch an immediate rescue operation, PTI reported.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the donation $2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, and $50,000 for each wounded person.
“The Prime Minister announced…a donation $2 lakh for each immediate family member of the deceased from the Prime Minister Relief Fund. And also announced $An official statement by the Prime Minister said: “50 thousand for each person injured in the accident.”
The police have not yet confirmed the cause of the accident. Initial reports indicate that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, which led to the accident.
The injured were transferred to a government hospital in the neighboring Purnia district.
