A 26-year-old woman killed her husband and committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, leaving behind her newborn baby who also died during treatment, after a domestic dispute here on Friday morning, police said.

They said that the incident occurred in the village of Garrero when a dispute broke out between Sanju (26 years old) and her husband Shiva (27 years old), and in a fit of anger, Sanju hit her husband on the head with a hammer, killing him.

They added that to hide the crime, she locked the body of her husband and her 22-day-old baby in the room, then headed to the Defrakot railway line, where she jumped in front of the train and died.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Balwant Chaudhary said that the police reached the railway line after receiving information, and after identifying the woman, they reached her home to find the body of the husband and the infant who died during treatment.

Chaudhary said that a suicide note was recovered from Sanju containing allegations of harassment against her husband and in-laws.
“No one would have imagined that this marriage, which took place just a year ago, would meet such a horrific end,” said resident Roshan Lal.

“After conducting the post-mortem examination, the family cremated the bodies. A thorough investigation is underway in the case,” Chaudhary said.
