New Delhi: A stunning late surge from Mukul Chaudhary and Avesh Khan rewrote the record books as Lucknow Super Giants registered a dramatic three-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in a last-ball thriller at Eden Gardens on Thursday. The defining moment of the contest was the unbeaten 54-run partnership between Mukul and Avesh for the eighth wicket – now the highest stand for the eighth wicket or less in a successful IPL chase. The brilliant stand, coming off just 24 balls, flipped the script and revealed KKR’s anguish at the death.Chasing 182, LSG were reeling at 128/7 in 16 overs despite 54 from Aayush Badoni. But Mukul, playing only his third match in the Indian Super League, produced a thrilling counter-attack that will be remembered for years.

Mukul Choudhary’s six-hit blitz enters the record books

Mukul’s roles were not just about influence but also about achievement. He smashed seven sixes – the most by LSG while batting at No. 7 or less. This tally also equals the record for the most runs from that position in a successful chase in the Indian Premier League, matching Dwayne Bravo’s feat for Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians in 2018.As the pressure mounted, Mukul found a powerful ally in Avesh, and together they wrote history with their match-winning attitude.

Not only did the partnership bring an unexpected victory, it also highlighted LSG’s increasing dominance over KKR. It was LSG’s fifth win in seven direct meetings against KKR, including their third win at Eden Gardens in four attempts.Read also: Sanjeev Goenka’s emotional hug for Mukul Choudhary goes viral after LSG’s win – WatchKKR stumbles at the death againFacing Cameron Green in the penultimate over, Mukul smashed two sixes and a four to swing the momentum. Needing 14 runs before the final over, he held his nerve against Vaibhav Arora, firing two more deliveries, including a crucial one off the penultimate delivery.Needing just one run off the last ball, Mukul and Avesh rallied to complete the chase, sealing LSG’s second last-ball win in a run chase after their famous one-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2023.Earlier, KKR had scored 181/4 but failed to close out the match, as their inexperienced attack faltered once again under pressure.
