Ram Gopal Varma recently celebrated his birthday and a huge party was held in Mumbai. The filmmakers’ birthday celebration was attended by celebrities like Sunil Shetty, Riteish, Genelia Deshmukh, Manoj Bajpayee and others.
RGV has now dropped a picture from his birthday while cutting the cake and had the most witty caption. The Rangeela director wrote: “Stabbing my past with a knife called Dhurandhar2.”
Kangana Ranaut responded to her post and said, “Sir, your work and films have contributed immensely to cinema and people’s lives, the time they enjoyed with their friends and families in theatres, we did not have cinemas in our small village but we also watched your films on DVD players in those days and the day we dreamed of Mumbai and the different aspects your cinema revealed to our tender minds at that impressionable stage. You have made our lives/experiences richer through your stories, and today too You are never shy about appreciating other people’s work which is a huge credit of yours, thanks 🙏”

Varma’s birthday cake has appeared on his famous films. Varma did not shy away from praising ‘Dhurandhar’ and also described Aditya Dhar as his new ‘mentor’. “My only advice to all film students is ‘Quit your institutes and spend this money and time in theaters #Dhurandhar2,'” the director said. For all you film students out there, here’s what I studied about how Aditya Dhar directs cinema, but weaponizes cinema itself.
Dhar has combined visceral, raw intensity with surgical precision, creating a film that feels like a live electrical wire buzzing with tension and then exploding in cinematic brilliance. His techniques redefine the genre, blending Scorsese’s gritty realism with Tarantino’s flair, all while maintaining an iron grip on both pacing and soaring over emotional landscapes.
” He added, “The extensive use of medium close-ups and tight frames captures not only extreme masculinity, but also subtle expressions, with a smoldering intensity (especially in Ranveer’s eyes).
Low angles, shallow depth of field, and occasional high frame rate/shutter speed shots build tension without distracting us from the drama.” Pharma went on to rate the performance
Ranveer Singh
and R Madhavan in the film concluded, “Dhar’s world building is like a chef blending geo-politics, gang dynamics and espionage without once feeling like a lecturer in grounding this larger-than-life revenge drama in a setting that has never been seen or tried before in a palpable, pulsing atmosphere created by Saini Johray. Dhar’s genius lies not in balance but in glorifying every aspect of his addictive, delicious and food-prepared craft in the pre-March 19 era. 2026 is now old and disease-ridden.
This is not a trend. It’s a surgical war on celluloid. #Dhurandhar2 should not just be seen, it should be read like a textbook.”
