Turning point after separation
Speaking to Barun Das on Duologue, Aamir revealed that the aftermath of his divorce was emotionally overwhelming, marking a drastic shift in his lifestyle.“I was a teetotaller until I went through my first divorce with Reena. And then, on the first day when I left with the kids and I was home alone, I couldn’t deal with my emotions at that time. I never drank alcohol, I never drank alcohol. I did drink once or twice in some scenes, but that was only because I had to drink for the scene.”

The actor said that what started as a weak moment quickly turned into a drawn-out phase.“That night, I had alcohol at home serving guests and all that, so I started drinking. And for the next year and a half, I was drinking almost a bottle a night. Now that’s really extreme, from someone who was a teetotaler to someone consuming a bottle a night is pretty extreme.”
