On Tuesday, April 14, the Beverly Hills Hotel’s pool and ballroom will once again transform into a peacocking parade of influencers, models, actors, designers and stylists. Daily front rowFashion Los Angeles Awards, one of the Hollywood style crowd’s favorite excuses to play dress up. This year’s party, the 10th annual, comes with an added attraction: Tiffany Haddish as host.
This should help keep things lively. Not only is Haddish funny, she’s also obsessed with fashion. “I like the clothes I like,” she admitted. Hollywood Reporter. “I change whenever possible! Beyoncé has a whole house full of clothes – that’s what I want. That’s what I aspire to.”
This year’s honorees include models Brooks Nader (Breakthrough Fashion Talent Award) and Carolyn Murphy (Beauty Icon); Kelsey Deenihan (Makeup Artist of the Year); Sam Wolfe (Outstanding Music Designer of the Year); Mara Roszak (Hair Artist of the Year); Mark Holmes (Men’s Designer of the Year); Courtney Mays (Sportswear Designer of the Year); And Andrea Lieberman’s ALC brand (Powerful Brand). Lieberman, of course, is the designer who wore Jennifer Lopez in the lush green Versace dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards, and her brand has since become a go-to for actresses and many of the professional women around them.
But the grand prize goes to fashion and costume designer Zaldy, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Best known to mainstream audiences as the man behind many of RuPaul’s most memorable appearances, his work extends far beyond a single icon, with credits that include Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Mick Jagger, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry and Rufus Wainwright.
Hosts are scheduled to include Chris Paul, Hilary Duff, Noah Wyle and RuPaul. The event is sponsored by Morgan Oil, Lagos, Lavazza, Nicole Miller and Dow Vineyards.
At last year’s FLAs, the crowd included Hailey Bieber, Chapelle Rowan, Lizzo, Ashley Park, Devine Joy Randolph, Selma Blair, Brad Goreski, and Betsey Johnson. This year’s edition should be no less camera-ready.
