'My wife also has right to skydive': JD Vance on Iran's claim on 'right to uranium enrichment'

J.D. Vance made a strange analogy to his wife, Osha Vance, when commenting on Iran’s “right to enrich uranium.”

Vice President J.D. Vance offered an analogy from his marriage to Osha Vance to explain the problems with the Iran War ceasefire. As Vance spoke on the tarmac in Budapest, Hungary, he was asked a question about whether there would be a scenario in which the United States might agree to allow Iran to continue enriching uranium for civilian nuclear purposes.

Vance explained the difference between Iran’s “right” to enrich and what it actually does, and said that Osha Vance has the “right to parachute” but does not jump from the plane because the couple have an agreement.“Do you see a scenario in which the administration might be willing to agree to allow Iran to continue enriching uranium for civilian nuclear purposes?” Vance asked. “What the president said is we don’t want Iran to have the ability to make a nuclear weapon.

The President also said that we do not want Iran to enrich in order to make a nuclear weapon, and we want Iran to give up nuclear fuel. “These will be our demands during the negotiations,” Vance said.

“I said to myself, ‘You know what?’” Vance said, referring to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s comment that his country’s 10-point proposal to end the war included “Iran’s right to enrichment.” “My wife has the right to skydive, but she won’t jump out of the plane because she and I agree that she won’t do that because I don’t want my wife to jump out of the plane.”

What Vance wanted to make clear is that he wasn’t worried about said “right”, it was more important to see what they were actually doing. However, the comparison to Second Lady Osha Vance and their marriage, struck a strange note with many social media users calling it an insult to both Osha Vance and Iran.
