IMD issues yellow alert on Wednesday

The IMD on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for the entire Kashmir, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

Light rain/thundershowers are also likely for a brief period at scattered places on Thursday and Friday. While the weather will remain generally dry from April 11 to 16, there is a possibility of brief light rain in a few places in the afternoon and evening hours, the Met Office said.

It added that brief heavy rains may lead to floods and landslides in a few vulnerable places and waterlogging in a few low-lying areas.

It also advised farmers to resume agricultural operations starting tomorrow.

The southern districts of Kashmir, especially Shopian and Kulgam, witnessed severe hailstorms on Monday evening, resulting in severe damage to orchards and flourishing fruit trees.
