Kerala
In Kerala, the fighting is primarily between the CPI(M)-led Democratic Labor Party, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), and the BJP-led NDA, with top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, and Pinarayi Vijayan leading the election campaigns.
Assam
In Assam, the campaign centered around Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s governance record and the challenge to the Gaurav Gogoi-led Congress. The run-up to the polls witnessed allegations and counter-allegations between the BJP and the Congress, leading to a political tussle.
The Election Commission said it is fully prepared to conduct free, fair and peaceful polls in Assam, with webcasting enabled at all polling stations and security forces deployed in sensitive areas. More than 2.5 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the state, ANI reported.
Puducherry
In Puducherry, election campaigns for the 30-member Assembly, with 294 candidates in the fray, also concluded. The Union Territory has more than 9.5 lakh voters.
Tamil Nadu, West Bengal
Voting on April 9 marks the first phase of a wider election cycle, with Tamil Nadu scheduled to vote on April 23, while West Bengal will go to the polls in two phases on April 23 and 29.
Separately, the Election Commission will begin the final phase of the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls after May 4, covering around 370 million voters across 17 states and five union territories.

Under the leadership of Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel, authorities deployed central observers, security forces and small observers, with webcasts enabled at all 31,490 polling stations for real-time monitoring, according to ANI.
Over 2.5 crore voters will decide the fate of 722 candidates, with over 1.5 lakh polling staff deployed and electronic voting machines arranged with reserves.
