On the heels of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announcing the dates for the 2027 and 2028 Academy Awards, SAG-AFTRA has planted a stake in those same years’ dates for the Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, which honor outstanding achievement in film and television.
The Actor Awards, which were held this year on March 1, will be held in 2027 on Sunday, February 28, and in 2028 on Sunday, February 20. As was the case with this year’s ceremony, both concerts will begin at 8am ET/5pm PT and will be streamed live on Netflix.
Perhaps most notably, the 2027 Actor Awards will be held while the final round of voting for the Oscars is still open (February 25-March 1). It happened this year, and many thought it would be nice to see the actor’s award statues being presented to him SinnersMichael B. Jordan for Best Actor, Battle after battleSean Penn for Best Supporting Actor WeaponsAmy Madigan for Best Supporting Actress may have influenced Academy members to choose the same winners in those hotly contested categories.
SAG-AFTRA, the world’s largest actors’ union, will announce other key related dates and deadlines in the coming weeks.
