The 99th ceremony is scheduled to be held in mid-March, while the 100th edition will be held in early March.
The Academy Awards, which were held on March 15 this year, will remain in mid-March 2027 and then move to early March 2028, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday.
The 2027 Academy Awards, which will be the 99th edition of the ceremony, will be held on Sunday, March 14. The 2028 Academy Awards, marking the ceremony’s centenary, will be held on Sunday, March 5. Both shows will begin at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
As previously announced, this will be the final Oscars ceremony, held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and broadcast on ABC. In 2029, the show will move to the LA LIVE complex in downtown Los Angeles and begin streaming on YouTube.
The date of the Oscars has fluctuated wildly in recent years, ranging from February 9 (2020, moved to combat awards fatigue) to April 21 (2021, postponed due to the pandemic), as the Academy and ABC try to avoid direct conflict with the NFL playoffs, the Olympics and other major events.
