The Israeli military released footage of fighter jets taking off to launch raids on airports and airfields in Tehran, as part of what it described as a “large-scale overnight air strike” targeting Iranian air assets.“Strike: Numerous air assets, including aircraft and helicopters, as well as additional military infrastructure at three airfields across Tehran – Bahram, Mehrabad and Azmaysh. “Mehrabad Airport was used by the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and served as a central hub for arming and financing the regime’s terrorist proxies in the Middle East,” the IDF said in a post on X, sharing a video of fighter jets taking off to carry out the operation.

According to the Israeli army, the operation was carried out under the guidance of the Israeli army’s military intelligence and the Intelligence Directorate.

The Israeli military added that Mehrabad Airport, in particular, was bombed “several times” during Operation Visiting Lion, in reference to its ongoing military campaign against Iran. Israel’s ally, the United States – which joined strikes against the Islamic Republic on February 28, triggering the broader conflict in the Middle East – refers to the campaign as “Operation Epic Fury”.

The Israeli army added, describing the strikes as a major blow, that “the completed strikes increase the damage to the air capabilities of the Iranian terrorist regime.”

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to his country’s “adversaries” after the Israeli army announced that it had killed Major General Majid Khademi, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence service, along with a senior commander from Unit 840 of the Quds Force, in raids targeting Tehran.In a post on the websiteHe wrote: “Whoever kills our citizens, whoever directs terrorism against the State of Israel, and whoever builds the Iranian axis of evil – their blood is on their heads. We act with strength and determination – we will reach everyone who seeks to harm us.
