Lady Gaga broke many hearts, including her own, after canceling her concert in Montreal at the last minute. Fans were preparing for her final night at the Bell Center, but Gaga halted the concert on April 6, explaining that she was too ill to take the stage.
The “A Star IS Born” star shared that she had been battling a respiratory infection for several days, and that things got worse right before showtime. Her doctor didn’t mince words: Don’t lead.
Lady Gaga cancels her concert due to worsening illness: What happened?
The 40-year-old singer suddenly canceled her final concert scheduled in Montreal on April 6, 2026, which was part of her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour.Gaga shared the news herself on Instagram Stories that night. “I’m so sorry I’m unable to perform tonight and have had to cancel the show,” the “Abracadabra” singer wrote.
She continued, “I’ve been suffering from a respiratory infection for the past few days and I’m doing everything I can to rest and recover, but it’s gotten worse,” adding, “My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today, and frankly, I don’t think I can give you the quality of performance you deserve today.”
“It also did not mitigate her disappointment. “I know how deeply disappointed I am, and I really can’t feel bad about letting you down,” Gaga wrote, adding: “I’m so sorry to everyone who planned to be there and support me.”
Being in Montreal and performing for you on Thursday and Friday was magical and deeply meaningful. “To everyone who attended tonight, I am so sad and so sorry.”For the unversed, Gaga had already played two packed shows in Montreal a few days ago (on April 2 and 3) as part of her “Mayhem Ball Tour.” There are only three stops left: two in St. Paul and the big Madison Square Garden show in New York on April 13.
The Mayhem Ball Tour itself has been a winding road, adjusting dates and adding new cities since things first kicked off in February. Miami fans know the drill: It had to move that show to March after vocal strain forced it to cancel in September.Notably, Gaga is always upfront about why she does what she does. When she announced the “Mayhem Ball” in March 2025, per People, she said she didn’t plan to expand beyond her original shows in Singapore, but the overwhelming response to her album Mayhem changed her mind.
She chose arenas this time, not stadiums, so she could get her hands on every detail of the show. “This show is designed to be the kind of theatrical and exciting experience that brings MAYHEM to life exactly as I imagine it.
The MAYHEM Ball Tour is officially coming to you. See you soon, monsters.
