Divya Dutta recently spoke about her initial days in the industry and revealed that she had a crush on both Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar, but eventually played their on-screen sister.Speaking in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Divya laughed at the irony and admitted that she had questioned the casting at one point.
“Main bucha bhi tha – mere jasbaton se kyun khel rahi ho?” She said as she recalled how she faced the situation with humor.
“Salman ki saath kaam karna hi badi baat thi”
Talking about her experience with Salman, the actress said that admiration never translated into embarrassment during the shoot. “Jab Salman ke saath kaam kiya, tab aisa kuch Feel hi nahi tha. Main uss location mein bhi nahi thi ki kuch bolun. Unke saath kaam karna hi mere liye badi baat thi. He was very kind to me,” she said, adding that the star was “very protective” during the shoot.She also recalled being drawn to Salman’s on-screen character early on. “Woh Maine Pyar Kiya wala phase – a mix of innocence and naughty charm – endearing bahoot,” she added.
‘Farhan nahi, mujh milkhaji dikhi’
Along with Farhan, Divya quizzed director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra about his casting in the role of his sister. “Maine poocha ki mujhe behen ka role kyun de rahe ho. Unhone kaha — tum actor ho,” she recalled.But her perspective changed dramatically when she saw Farhan in the character.
“Jab set par gayi aur unhe dekha, mujhe farhan nahi, milkhaji dikhe. Tab laga main kitni chhoti baat ko lekar baithi thi,” she said, adding that the two eventually became good friends.

The actress also praised Shah Rukh Khan’s humility and recalled an incident that happened on the sets of Veer-Zaara. “Unhone mujhse pooch kar meri line li—jabki unhe poochne ki zarurat nahi thi. That’s the kind of person he is,” she said.She also revealed how he once ensured the safety of his female colleagues at the airport, waiting until everyone had left. “Aap aisi cheezein bhool nahi sakte,” she added.
“Extremely good looking with naughty innocence.”
Summing up her admiration for Salman, Divya said, “Ek toh very good looking, aur unki aankhon mein ek naughty innocence thi – jo bohot adorable hai.”Despite early crushes and unexpected casting choices, Divya’s idea remains rooted in the craft. “Actor hon… role aur jab itna umda ho, toh sab secondary ho jata hai,” she signed off.
