More than 6,000 workers from the state currently in war-torn Israel are “absolutely safe”, the Uttar Pradesh government said on Sunday, with authorities stressing that there has been no specific request from any worker to return to India.

“More than 6,000 workers from Uttar Pradesh are completely safe in Israel, with the Yogi government in constant touch. Despite the tense situation, all the workers are safe,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement carried by news agency ANI.
The confirmation from the state government comes a day after the UP government announced that a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, who had gone to Israel for work, was safely returned home after his family approached the authorities to bring back the stranded citizen.
Meanwhile, the government added that arrangements are being made to facilitate their return if the situation requires it.

On the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, senior officials have been assigned to closely monitor the situation. “Principal Secretary, Labor and Employment, Dr. Shanmuga Sundaram, is in regular touch with the Indian Embassy,” the statement said.
The government confirmed that monitoring is carried out continuously through embassy officials present on the ground. “The Yogi government is constantly monitoring workers from Uttar Pradesh through embassy officials,” she added.

Despite concerns about safety in the conflict-affected area, the state government noted that there is no panic among workers at present. “There is no pressure or specific request from any worker to return to India,” the CMO said, indicating that most workers are currently choosing to stay put.

The update comes days after a high-profile rescue of a worker from Ambedkar Nagar. Akhilesh Kumar, who was stranded in Israel amid the conflict and facing severe mental distress, was brought back to India after an emotional plea from his wife on Janata Darshan. The state government acted quickly, coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian missions in Israel and Jordan to secure his return via a multi-stage route via Amman.
“I was going through one of the most difficult and helpless phases of my life, where all hope seemed to fade away,” Kumar said after being reunited with his family, thanking the authorities for the operation, PTI reported.
