Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned on Saturday that his country would attack the city of Kolkata in eastern India if the neighbor attempted to carry out any “false flag operations.” These statements came after Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh earlier warned India’s “neighbors” against undertaking any “adventures.”
Speaking to reporters in his hometown of Sialkot, Asif said, “If India tries any false flag operation this time, we will, God willing, take it to Kolkata,” PTI reported.
He further said: “If India plans some fake operations through its men or through the Pakistani people in their custody by planting bodies somewhere and claiming that they are terrorists who did such and such, then Pakistan will take it to Kolkata.”
The Pakistani minister’s comments come after Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a stern warning to take decisive action against India’s “neighbor” if it embarks on any “misadventure.” He did not mention the name of Pakistan.
Rajnath Singh issued the warning as the conflict in West Asia, sparked by the Israeli-US attacks on Iran in February, continues to widen.

Rajnath Singh warns against “adventures”
“Our neighbour, in the current situation, can commit any misadventure. If it does, India’s action will be unprecedented and decisive,” Rajnath Singh said.
Speaking at the Sainik Saman Samlan polling station in Kerala, the Defense Minister also added that Operation Sindoor is not over yet. Singh was referring to Operation Sindoor, which India launched in May last year, in response to a deadly terror attack that took place a month ago in Pahalgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. India struck terror infrastructure in Pakistan and POK. The Operation Sindoor strikes led to a four-day military conflict after Pakistan launched drones and missiles towards India.
“The way terrorists targeted people on the basis of religion in Pahalgam… the attack was not just on India, but on the social unity and social fabric of the country,” Rajnath Singh said on Thursday.

In another development, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad on Friday claimed to have busted a subversion and espionage unit linked to Pakistan and arrested four persons. The accused were allegedly acting at the behest of cross-border dealers to spread terror and disturb public order in the state.
Officials said the accused were intercepted before they could implement a plan to set fire to a railway signal box near Kharkhuda railway station in Meerut, HT reported.
