Malayalam comedy-drama ‘Aadu 3’ defied mixed initial reviews to post a remarkable Rs 115.18 crore worldwide. The film, which has elements of time travel and Shaji Baban’s gang, showed a steady performance at the box office, especially in its opening week. Despite a slight decline in the second week, its international reception significantly boosted its overall earnings.
The Malayalam comedy-drama film ‘Aadu 3’ was released on March 19 and opened to mixed reviews at the box office. Amid the ‘Dhurnadhar’ wave, the film continued to register itself in the Rs 100-crore club, and on Thursday, the film collected Rs 73 lakh.According to trade analyst Sacnilk, ‘Aadu 3’ had a good opening, collecting Rs 6.03 crore. Keeping the numbers consistent, the film then enjoyed a weekend packed with good numbers, collecting over Rs 6.48 crore, Rs 7.28 crore and Rs 7.26 crore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively. This took the first week collection to Rs 36.63 crore.On the second day, collections saw a slight decline, with the second Friday adding Rs 1.45 lakh crore, and Rs 2.28 lakh crore and Rs 2.65 lakh on the second Saturday and Sunday respectively.After Thursday’s numbers of Rs 73 lakh across 829 shows, the film’s total stands at Rs 47.08 crore. This brings the total collections in India to Rs 54.43 lakh crore.Interestingly, the film also received good international reception. It has grossed Rs 60.75 crore in total collections, making its overall worldwide collection Rs 115.18 crore.
Theater occupancy
The film had an overall occupancy rate of 18.28%. The morning shows recorded 8.25%, then rose to 15% in the afternoon.
Later in the evening, the percentage of showings reached 16.58%, and peaked at night at 27.67%.
