The Academy of Military and Veterans National Entertainment Awards is hosting its second annual MV Awards this spring, where Dennis Quaid will be the night’s big winner.
The Military and Veterans Entertainment Awards will be held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles on May 23, and hosted by veteran actor and advocate Maurice B. Curry; Kerry is a US Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War whose credits include Beyond the gates and Law and Order: Organized Crime.
Quaid will receive the Patriot Ally Award, presented by the National and International Commander of the American Legion, for his support of the veteran community. The night serves to highlight the storytelling and creative voices that elevate veteran expertise across film and media, as the industry continues to value authenticity and lived experience in storytelling. It also aims to challenge outdated stereotypes and create a more accurate and empowering narrative for American veterinarians.
“Maurice brings professionalism, presence and heart to the stage,” NEAAMV President Joe Ramirez said in a statement. “His co-hosting of an evening that also honors Dennis Quaid reflects the level of voices supporting veterans in the media.”
“Storytelling is evolving, and audiences are responding to the truth. Veterans bring a level of discipline, perspective and authenticity that can’t be manufactured,” Kerry added in his own statement.
The ceremony will include award presentations, special recognition for films related to Vietnam veterans, and participation by veteran and non-veteran creators. This year’s event is supported by the American Legion Ronald Reagan Palisades Post 283, SAG-AFTRA, True Religion Brand Jeans and VetStreamTV.
