Wallace Shawn and his partner Deborah Eisenberg entered his Off-Broadway play Wednesday night to replace two cast members who were sick.
Schön and Eisenberg appeared with texts at What we did before our moth days At the Greenwich House Theatre, opposite cast members John Early and Josh Hamilton. Shawn and Eisenberg were filling in for actors Hope Davis and Maria Dizia for the night, and will appear again Thursday night, while the actors are still off the show.
Shawn, who wrote the play, and Eisenberg had three hours’ notice before going on stage, according to the production.

This is the world’s first production of What we did before the moth days, The four actors, father, mother, son, and the father’s long-time lover, tell interconnected monologues about their lives, and how each intersects with love, including the regret, sadness, and joy it can bring.
The play is performed in repertory with revival fever, A one-man play also written and performed by Sean, in which he falls ill inside a hotel room and struggles with the political repression taking place in the world outside. This offer is presented twice a week, on Sunday and Monday evenings.

The play is scheduled to continue until May 24, after opening at the theater on March 5.
