Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired the second special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review measures being taken across key sectors to insulate India from the impact of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, and asked all departments to take all possible measures to address the problems of citizens.

“He chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). He reviewed the steps taken by various ministries and departments in the wake of the ongoing conflict in West Asia and also discussed the next set of initiatives to be taken,” Modi said in a post on X.

Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan briefed the meeting on the steps taken to secure petroleum products, especially LPG and LNG, and ensure adequate power supply.

Sources of both LPG and LNG are now being diversified, with new flows from multiple countries.

Domestic LPG prices for consumers remained unchanged, and anti-diversion measures against hoarding and black marketing are being implemented on a regular basis, according to a PMO statement.

To maintain energy availability during the peak summer months, gas plants with a combined capacity of 7-8 GW have been exempted from the gas gathering mechanism, and additional coal presses are being put in place at thermal power plants, the statement said.
