Car Sales March 26: Renault sees fastest growth, check how others are doing

India’s passenger vehicle market ended the financial year on a strong note, with most automakers reporting healthy year-on-year growth in March 2026. Improving demand, strong SUV portfolios and growing interest in electric vehicles helped drive sales volumes across brands.

Here’s a quick look at the automakers’ performance.At the top of the chart, Maruti Suzuki India continued to lead the market with total sales of 2,25,251 units in March 2026, representing an increase of 16.72 per cent compared to 1,92,984 units sold in March 2025. Domestic passenger car sales stood at 1,66,219 units, up 10.27 per cent from 1,50,743 units in the same month of the year. The past.Tata Motors reported a strong rise in domestic passenger vehicle sales, which rose to 66,192 units in March 2026 from 51,616 units last year, implying a growth of 28 per cent.

International PV sales jumped to 779 units from 256 units last year. The company’s EV segment also witnessed significant traction, with sales rising 77 per cent to 9,494 units compared to 5,353 units in March 2025. The brand also highlighted a record fourth quarter, crossing 2,00,000 units in quarterly sales with a growth of nearly 37 per cent, driven by strong demand for models like the Nexon and Punch.Hyundai Motor India reported total sales of 69,004 units, registering a growth of 2.5 per cent year-on-year.

Domestic sales reached 55,064 units, the company’s highest ever domestic performance in March, reflecting a 6.3 percent increase, while exports reached 13,940 units.Mahindra & Mahindra reported strong numbers in the SUV segment, with domestic sales reaching 60,272 units in March, an increase of 25 per cent year-on-year. Including exports, UV sales totaled 62,109 units.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor also registered steady growth, recording total sales of 37,194 units in March 2026, compared to 30,043 units in March 2025, an increase of 24 per cent.

Domestic sales rose to 35,125 units from 28,373 units, while exports rose to 2,069 units from 1,670 units, both reflecting a growth of 24 per cent.Kia India achieved its highest ever monthly sales, dispatching 29,112 units in March 2026, up 14.5 per cent from 25,525 units a year earlier. The company also announced its best quarterly performance ever, with sales in the January-March period rising by 11.6 percent to 84,316 units.

This growth was largely driven by continued demand for the Seltos, which recorded over 10,000 units per month.JSW MG Motor India registered 19 per cent year-on-year growth, with sales reaching 6,528 units in March 2026, indicating steady demand across both ICE and NEV portfolio.Skoda Auto India recorded sales of 7,928 units in March 2026, compared to 7,422 units in March 2025, reflecting a modest increase.Among the fastest growing brands, Renault India recorded a sharp 77 per cent increase in domestic wholesale sales, with volumes increasing to 5,046 units in March 2026 from 2,846 units a year earlier. For the full fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company recorded total sales of 42,018 units, an increase of 11 per cent compared to 37,900 units in FY25.
