The notification, which looks legitimate and urgent until it’s downloaded and opened, contains an image of a clown with the words “April Fools” written on it as soon as it’s opened. It also has an image of the national emblem of India with the words ‘Satyamev Jayate’ written on it.

It is worth noting that the Government of India has not made any such announcement.

This notice is being circulated amid the ongoing war between Iran and the United States, with the support of Israel, as the entire West Asia region finds itself engulfed in a conflict that has had repercussions around the world.

This April Fools’ Day prank comes just days after the term “lockdown in India 2026” appeared on Google Trends last week, especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi drew parallels in Parliament last Monday, March 23, between the Covid-19 lockdown and current geopolitical tensions.

Prime Minister Modi chairs the CCS meeting today

As the ongoing war in West Asia continues even into the second month and oil supply continues to be disrupted across the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reportedly chair a key meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at 7 pm today in Delhi.

This is the second meeting of its kind in less than 10 days, as the previous meeting was held on March 22 to discuss the situation in West Asia amid the Iranian war.
