A young technology couple from Telangana in Hyderabad died by suicide at their home in Bengaluru, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred on Monday evening in a residential building. The woman, 31, returned home at about 9:45 p.m., but found the apartment locked from the inside. Despite repeated attempts, her husband did not respond, HT reported earlier.
She then asked neighbors and security staff in the building for help. When they managed to reach the apartment, her 32-year-old husband was found dead inside.

“After the door was forcefully opened, the husband was found dead in the room,” Kothanur police inspector HR Manjunath said. Within minutes of witnessing the scene, the woman allegedly rushed out and jumped from the 17th floor of the apartment building, resulting in her instant death, police said.
The inspector said: “We obtained a suicide note from the husband in which he mentioned depression and marital discord, but the exact cause of death will not be confirmed until after an autopsy.” Police said the bodies were handed over to their families on Tuesday. The inspector added: “The couple were childhood friends and got married in 2024 without informing their family members.”
The couple is said to be originally from Siddipet in Telangana and were working as technology professionals in separate private companies in Bengaluru.
Job loss, anxiety mentioned in the note
Police said the husband left behind a suicide note in which he cited job loss and increased anxiety as the main reasons behind his decision, according to a report by The Times Of India.
He previously worked in the United States with an annual package of approx $80 lakh. He also bought a small house in the US and built another house in Telangana for his family. However, he lost his job due to AI-related factors, which affected him severely. The report added that his distress increased as he struggled to find another job, although his family and wife remained supportive.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death, including the sequence of events and factors that may have contributed to the incident. “We have registered two separate cases of unnatural death. Prima facie, it appears that the husband died by suicide, and the wife, in shock, took the extreme step soon after,” the inspector said.
