Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Caroline Bissette It was a huge success for FX and executive producer Ryan Murphy. The show, which concluded on March 26, generated significant streaming numbers and emotional (if sometimes polarized) reactions from viewers.
In other words, he was typical Murphy: over the course of his career, which includes more than two dozen series, he delivered a collection of hit songs that tended to play in a high emotional register and engage audiences and conversations.
Murphy is also one of the most prolific executive producers in the industry, with projects at ABC, FX, and Netflix (where he had a multi-year overall deal before returning to Disney’s 20th Television in 2023). This is where the products of his company bearing his name currently stand.

love story: The FX series is the latest in Murphy’s series American story franchise (although it dropped the word “American” from its title. The show was created by Connor Haynes and executive produced by Murphy), brilliantly recreating the 1990s New York inhabited by the Kennedys and Bissett (although some members of the Kennedy family and people who knew the couple had issues with the dramatic license the show took).
Given its success at FX, it seems likely that the Disney outlet would want a second season, though there’s no deal in place yet. It seems that Murphy and company have not settled on a theme. “You and me both,” executive producer Nina Jacobson responded to A.J THR The writer’s interest in knowing who will appear in a potential second season.
