TSA agents already face a difficult job, but it has become even more difficult over the past few weeks due to unpaid work. Due to the ongoing partial government shutdown, Democrats and Republicans in Congress have been unable to reach a compromise when it comes to the Department of Homeland Security or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, leaving TSA employees to work without pay. Donald Trump She finally signed an executive order to compensate employees with back wages. So, when exactly will TSA agents get paid?
In late March, Trump announced on Truth Social that he “will sign an order ordering Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullen to immediately pay TSA agents to address this emergency and quickly stop the Democrats’ chaos at the airports. It’s not easy to do, but I will do it!”
“I want to thank the hard-working TSA agents, as well as ICE, for the wonderful assistance they have given us at the airports,” the Republican president added.
Going six weeks without pay placed a serious strain on TSA employees, with hundreds quitting and thousands having to get sick. Naturally, TSA wait times have skyrocketed due to reduced staff numbers. Trump deployed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to assist the TSA, but delays at the airport did not improve.

When do TSA agents get paid?
The agency announced that employees “should start seeing their paychecks as early as Monday, March 30.”
“TSA is grateful to the President and the Secretary for their leadership in putting money back into the pockets of TSA employees who have worked without pay during the longest government shutdown in history,” the TSA concluded in its statement, according to ABC News.
After more than a month of working without pay, Trump issued an order to pay TSA employees.
“I hereby direct the Secretary of Homeland Security, in coordination with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, to use funds that have a reasonable and reasonable connection to TSA operations to provide TSA employees with the compensation and benefits that would have accrued to them but for the Democratic-led DHS shutdown, consistent with applicable law,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
Have all TSA officers gotten their paychecks yet?
According to multiple outlets, about 61,000 TSA agents are still missing their second full paycheck. Therefore, many, if not all, have not yet received everything they deserve at the time of publication.
Are TSA wait times still bad?
As of March 30, CNN reported that airports had seen TSA wait times “ease” compared to the hours-long delays travelers have been facing for weeks.
With about 500 TSA agents quitting amid the shutdown, TSA wait times may remain very high at some airports.
