Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar fell on the red carpet on Sunday while receiving Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati in Islamabad, ahead of de-escalation talks in the Middle East. The incident occurred at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when Dar came forward to greet the visiting dignitaries. In a clip circulating on social media, Dhar moves towards the Egyptian leader, but loses his balance and falls. He is immediately assisted by security personnel.
Pakistan is hosting two days of talks with Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia focused on de-escalating the Iran war, with early discussions focusing on proposals to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restore global shipping flows. The waterway, a major route for oil and liquefied natural gas, witnessed turmoil after Iran halted traffic in response to US and Israeli strikes. It is worth noting that the United States and Israel did not participate in the discussions. The countries concerned have put forward ideas to Washington, including mechanisms to ensure safe maritime passage and even the formation of a possible union to manage oil flows through the strait.
