US Vice President J.D. Vance (AFP)
US Vice President J.D. Vance said on Friday that he is “obsessed” with investigating government information about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and believes aliens are actually demons.“I haven’t been able to spend enough time on this to really understand it, but I’ll trust me. I’m obsessed with this,” Vance told podcaster Penny Johnson, laughing.

He added: “I still have three more years as Vice President. I will get to the bottom of the UFO files.”
Vance’s comments came after Johnson asked about President Donald Trump’s February order directing federal agencies to begin “identifying and releasing” government files related to UFOs and aliens.
Trump said that the move “is based on the tremendous interest he has shown,” the same month that former President Barack Obama said aliens are “real,” even though he had not seen them in person. Trump later told reporters that Obama “provided classified information, and he’s not supposed to do that.”Regarding the nature of UFOs, Vance told Johnson: “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons,” describing this as a Christian understanding of “heavenly beings that fly around and do strange things to people.”
No evidence of intelligent life beyond Earth has been provided, but interest in UFOs has increased in recent years as the US government investigates reports of unusual aircraft amid fears that foreign powers may be testing the advanced technology. In March 2024, the Pentagon issued a report stating that it had no evidence that unidentified aerial phenomena were alien technology, AFP reported. Many of the reported sightings were later identified as weather balloons, spy planes, satellites, or other mundane activity.
