Legendary golfer Tiger Woods was arrested in Florida after a two-car crash near his home on Jupiter Island on Friday, in which his SUV flipped through, according to the local sheriff’s office.

Woods’ medical condition was not immediately clear Friday afternoon. But Sheriff Alex Villanueva of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said in a news conference that Woods appeared to be in good condition when he was taken into jail.

Just before 2 p.m., a truck towing a small trailer on South Beach Road on Jupiter Island was turning into a driveway when the driver looked in the rearview mirror and saw a Woods Land Rover overtaking him “at high speeds,” the sheriff told the press Friday.

“He saw it coming, so he tried to swerve to the side of the road. But this is a small two-lane road, and there was no shoulder for this pressure cleaning guy to get off the side of the road,” Sheriff Villanueva said.

He added: “He was trying to move to the side of the road. The Land Rover overtook him at the last moment, and swerved to avoid the collision, but collided with the rear end of the pressure washer trailer, then flipped onto the driver’s door.”

Woods was able to crawl out of the passenger door of the vehicle, the sheriff said. Woods then checked himself into a rehabilitation clinic that year to get help. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
