Katie Kilkenny, business and media correspondent at Hollywood Reporterwas promoted to corporate, television and labor correspondent, THR Editor-in-Chief Meyer Roshan made the announcement on Friday.

In her expanded role, Kilkenny will cover TV development and production while researching scoops and enterprise stories across the live streaming landscape. She will be an additional presence in Los Angeles THRThe TV team, which includes TV Features Editor Mickey O’Connell, TV Business Editor Rick Porter, TV Editor Tony Maglio and Writer-at-Large James Hibberd.

Meanwhile, Kilkenny will continue to cover key issues affecting the industry’s workforce and the workings of Hollywood’s unions THRWebsite and print magazine.

“Katie has earned a reputation as one of the best labor reporters in the business – tenacious, well-resourced and unafraid to go after tough stories. She breaks breaking news, has won awards and given a voice to people who rarely get it. I’m excited to see her bring those tremendous skills to the broader Hollywood landscape,” Roshan said in a statement.

In her eight years THRKilkenny has risen from associate editor to featured reporter covering union negotiations, workplace issues, the intersection of politics and entertainment and the flight of production from California. During her time at the magazine, she covered news stories and wrote investigative and feature stories. She’s covered entertainment workers living in their cars, hostile industrial workplaces, and the struggles of production assistants in Hollywood. In 2023 she led THRCoverage of the dual Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Her stories have won Los Angeles Press Club awards, and she has previously written for them Atlantic, Deputy, Pacific standard and Los Angeles Review of Books. In 2025, she won second place in the National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards competition for print journalist of the year and took first place for stories about the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires and the fallout from the 2023 strikes.

The news arrives after a busy awards season for the publication, which in addition to covering every angle of Hollywood’s biggest night, published a slew of Oscars and curated an Oscars art exhibit at the Megan Mulroney Gallery in West Hollywood.

Kilkenny will report to Executive Business Editor Eric Hayden.
