Get ready to return to Hogwarts. The new Harry Potter series will arrive on HBO for Christmas 2026, and they’re doing things differently: Each of JK Rowling’s seven books has its own season. So, “The Philosopher’s Stone” and “Chamber of Secrets” all the way to “Deathly Hallows” are back, but in a larger and longer format.

Dominic McLaughlin replaces Harry. You probably don’t know him yet, because he’s pretty new on the scene. Per Variety, he played in Sky’s comedy “Grow” alongside Hagrid and soon-to-be Nick Frost. Arabella Stanton fronts Hermione, and she’s played Matilda on the West End stage, so she has that classic book-smart energy. Alastair Stout portrays Ron, and honestly, this is his first real gig. These are new faces, and HBO had a huge success: there were 32,000 kids auditioning for the role of Harry. Mark Mylod and his team scanned hundreds of tapes every day.

John Lithgow, already a legend, plays Professor Dumbledore. Papa Isidu is Snape. Janet McTeer is Professor McGonagall. Nick Frost brings Hagrid to life. Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby are Harry’s terrible Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon.

Looking back at the first season, Paul Whitehouse takes on the role of the eccentric caretaker Argus Filch, Luke Thellon as Professor Quirrell, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lux Pratt as Draco Malfoy, and Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy.

Francesca Gardiner heads up writing and executive produces; She runs the show. Mark Mylod directs and executive produces, in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Rowling herself serves as executive producer, along with Neil Blair, Ruth Kinley Letts and David Heyman of Heyday Films.

Here, let’s reveal the full cast and find out who’s playing who.
