Dhurandhar actor Vivek Sinha recently spoke about the overwhelming response to his performance, his unconventional journey, and the life lessons that shaped him. From going viral for his intense role to receiving love — even from across borders — the actor hasn’t held back.

‘So I got love from Pakistan

Talking about the gushing reactions on social media, Vivek shared how the audience raged over his character and admired his performance.“Instagram has almost 2,000 comments. I’m actually enjoying it… Everyone says that watching me makes them so angry that they feel like jumping to the screen and hitting me. But at the same time, they say my acting is very good… I make it look very real,” he told Zee News.He added that while many comments praise his work, some may border on extremes. “Some people even write that they will come to Pakistan and beat me… So I had to clarify: Brother, I am not Pakistani, I am Indian. I am from Bijnor, from Dhampur.”Interestingly, Vivek revealed that he also received appreciation from Pakistan.“I’ve been getting a lot of messages from Pakistan saying, ‘Sir, I love you from Pakistan.’

“I told them, ‘Wait…we’ll talk later,'” he said with a laugh, adding that audiences everywhere connected with his performance.

A difficult childhood and the strength of a single mother

Opening up about his personal life, Vivek spoke emotionally about losing his father at a young age.He said: “I was very lucky… I was only six years old when my father died. My mother raised me as a single parent… and I never felt lacking in anything in life.”He attributed his confidence and positivity to his mother’s upbringing.

“The confidence and happiness I have in life today…it’s all because of her.”

From Bijnor to theater to films

Vivek’s journey into acting was not planned. Coming from a small town in Bijnor, he followed the traditional path before discovering theatre.“My life was completely normal… I studied and got a job… Then someone suggested I try acting. I didn’t even know what theater was,” he recalls. His first experience in theater was far from glamorous. “I got a role called ‘Fourth Villager.’

I only had one line in the entire script – “Sir, the wells have run dry.” “I got bored in three days,” he laughed. But things changed when he got a better role and started performing on stage. “The first time I performed on stage, people appreciated me…and that’s where my journey really began.”

The big break and Dhurandhar moment

After years in theater and smaller roles – including a brief appearance in PK – Vivek says Dhurandhar changed everything.“My life has completely changed,” he said. “It has gone way beyond what I expected.”He also shared how the brief appearance in the trailer had a huge impact. He added: “Those 14-second clips made me feel like a star… People’s blood boiled after watching them.”Speaking about performing the kidnapping scene, Vivek said, “My character is based on a real kidnapper – sexy, confident and dangerous. We studied the references in depth. The idea was to show how terrifying the situation was.”

When people didn’t respond to ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, it showed fear, and that’s what we wanted to portray.Sharing his experience of working with the Dhurandhar team, he added, “It’s unbelievable. There is no ego at all. Everyone – from the director to actors like R Madhavan – was very supportive. Madhavan even suggested that I perform with ‘snake-like eyes’ in one scene. This became the final shot.”

“I’m never stressed about work.”

Despite the ups and downs, Vivek maintains that he never chased work desperately.“I was never stressed about getting a job. I just chose what I felt was right. Even if there was a gap of six months, I never felt anxious,” he said.“I’ve never felt 1% depressed. I stay positive… and maybe that’s the result of that.”

About controversy and cinema that reflects reality
