The airport, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, will serve as a strategic engine to accelerate UP’s ambition to become a trillion-dollar economy, the government said in a statement.

She said that the project will significantly enhance job opportunities, attract investments, and enhance global connectivity, while strengthening the country’s presence on the international economic map.

Developed in line with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the airport is expected to unlock the landlocked economic potential of the state by connecting key sectors like agriculture; Small, medium and micro enterprises; Tourism industries directly to global markets.

According to the statement, the airport will have an annual capacity to handle around seven crore passengers and nearly 10 lakh tonnes of cargo, which will provide new impetus to the agriculture, medium, small and micro enterprises and logistics sectors.

Perishable agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products and flowers will be able to reach international markets more efficiently, which could lead to increased farmers’ income and strengthen the “farm to global market” model, she said.

The government added that lower logistics costs, increased exports and improved connectivity will enhance competitiveness and economic growth of UP. She added that once the airport is fully operational, it could contribute to the state’s GDP growth of more than 1%.

The project is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities, both direct and indirect, across sectors such as aviation, logistics, hospitality, agriculture and supply chains, while promoting industrial development in the areas surrounding the airport.

The government said the airport development will transform Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway area into major investment and industrial hubs, attracting investments in sectors including electronics, manufacturing, logistics and real estate.

She added that the airport is being developed as a major multi-modal aviation hub, which will help ease pressure on Delhi’s IGI Airport and position UP as a major hub for global trade, tourism and connectivity.

Meanwhile, preparations for the opening ceremony have reached their final stages, with management on high alert to ensure the event runs smoothly.

According to an official statement, security arrangements, traffic management, parking, medical facilities and other essential services are in full swing. CCTV surveillance and control room monitoring have been strengthened, while arrangements for VIP movement and public convenience have also been completed.

Chief Minister Adityanath personally reviewed the preparations, while directing officials to ensure smooth implementation of the high-profile event, which is expected to witness the presence of dignitaries, industrialists and the general public.
