Days after news of the sudden death of actor Nicholas Brendon spread, details of his death have now emerged. The actor, best known for his role in the sci-fi series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” was found dead at his Indiana residence by a friend.
New details reveal that the actor was living alone, but had an old friend stay the night to help and provide care. According to a TMZ report, the actor was found dead on March 20 at the age of 54.
The coroner issues a statement on the death of Nicholas Brendon
According to Putnam County Coroner Todd Zinner, he was notified on Monday, and upon arriving, found an “adult male as if asleep” who had already been pronounced dead. The coroner indicated that the time of death was shortly before the body was found, although the exact time remains unclear. The report also notes that preliminary investigations did not reveal “any signs of foul play, and nothing at the scene indicated that the death was natural.”Autopsy and toxicology results are currently pending.

Family members had previously reported that the actor suffered from heart problems — a diagnosis of a congenital heart defect, and a heart attack in 2023. “We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon,” the family wrote in their note.

Nicholas’ co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar paid a heartfelt tribute in a social media post, which read: “They’ll never know how hard it is to be the one who wasn’t chosen. I’ve seen you, Nikki. I know you’re at peace, in that big rocking chair in the sky.”
