The Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), is set to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, scheduled to be held next month.

On Wednesday, the party issued the first list that included 23 candidates for the elections, including 21 former ministers. The AIADMK also finalized the seat-sharing formula with partners, where 27 seats were allocated to the BJP, 18 to Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), 11 to Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), and the Tamil Manila Congress got 5 seats. The AIADMK remains the largest party with a majority share of 178 seats.

Party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami will contest from his hometown, Edappadi. Natham R Viswanathan from Natham, KP Munusamy from Veppanahalli, SP Velumani from Thondamuthur, Dindigul C Srinivasan from Dindigul and D Jayakumar from Royapuram will contest.

The Tamil Nadu state elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 23, for a total of 234 seats across the state. The results will be announced on May 4.
