In exchange for two free LPG cylinders per household – one each on the Hindu festivals of Holi and Diwali – the Delhi government has allocated $Prime Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced Rs 260 crore in her budget when she presented the financials and plans for the National Capital Territory (NCT).

Overall, CM Gupta, who also holds the finance portfolio, presents a budget of Rs $1,03,700 crores.

The Prime Minister described it as a “green budget” and said the city was going through a transition. She also noted that the “culture of freebies” affected the growth rate, adding that the period between 2018 and 2020 saw a decline in revenue. This was the period of the AAP regime led by Arvind Kejriwal.
The 2026-27 budget estimates tax revenues at $74,000 crores.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that Delhi’s per capita income is the third highest in the country.
In the infrastructure sector, $Rs 5,921 crore has been allocated to the Public Works Department, while urban development and shelter projects have been allocated $7,887 crores.
“Our goal is safe roads, climate corridors and impeccable connectivity,” Gupta said.
Government allocated $3,942 crores for the power department.
CM Gupta said that the government is working on removing the overhead wires and has allocated them separately $200 crores for this purpose.
As announced by the Prime Minister $Rs 300 crore for the development of the Trans Yamuna area of the city, while the Delhi Gram Vikas Board has been allocated $787 Crores.
Gupta announced $1,352 crore for development of dust-free roads, including resurfacing of 750 km of roads across the city.
Budget allocations $She added: Rs 160 crore for development of industrial areas, which is the first such allocation for non-conforming areas. around $An amount of Rs 454 crore has been kept aside for drainage of Najafgarh, while the budget also provides for the same $Rs 350 crore for MLA Local Area Development Scheme.
In addition, $Rs 151 crore has been allocated for extending the Modi Mill Bridge up to Kalkaji and Savitri Cinema intersection, and the total cost of the project is estimated at Rs. $371 Crores.
The city government will also build an integrated secretariat and a housing complex for employees.
Citing the Palam fire incident, Gupta said that narrow lanes and crowded unauthorized colonies make it difficult to put out fires, adding that fire fighting infrastructure in Delhi will be strengthened with allocation $674 Crores.
To address water-related issues, Gupta said new water pipeline projects are currently underway $Rs 9,000 crore has been allocated to the Delhi Jal Board for water and sewerage management.
She said that no resident has to bother to get water and stand in line to get a water tanker $Rs 475 crore has been allocated for the Chandrawal water treatment plant.
Pre-budget consultations
Earlier, CM Gupta met several sections of the society before the session began on March 23.
This included a meeting with members of the transgender community on Friday; And with gig workers and pre-workers to gather their budget recommendations.
“The Delhi government’s budget session, scheduled to begin on March 23, will be the second budget of the BJP government. We have consulted with people from various sectors of society to ensure that the Delhi government presents this budget as per their suggestions. It should address public concerns and provide infrastructure for Delhi. We want to communicate with the public an evolving roadmap for Delhi,” the Prime Minister said. “Their participation is the greatest strength of this budget.”
