The Indian Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast isolated to scattered rain in several areas of India in the coming days. Light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected in northwest, northeast, east and central India, with isolated heavy rains in the northeast and hailstorms in the eastern hills.

In the weather bulletin, the IMD said light rain with occasional thunderstorms and wind speeds up to 30-50 kmph are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Rajasthan from March 23 to 26.
In eastern and central India, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected over the sub-Himalayan region of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.
Cloudy skies expected in Delhi
In Delhi, the maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the seasonal average. The minimum temperature settled at 15.6 degrees Celsius, down 1.1 degrees from the seasonal average.

The Meteorological Directorate expected the weather on Monday to be partly cloudy, with maximum and minimum temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively. No weather alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department so far.
The air quality was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category at 4pm on Sunday, with an air quality index (AQI) reading of 153, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
Landslide in Himachal, yellow alert issued
Intermittent rains in Himachal Pradesh led to a massive landslide on Sunday, following which directions were issued to evacuate nine houses in Rubdu village, news agency PTI reported.
The Regional Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at speed of 30-40 kmph at isolated places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts on Monday and Thursday.
It also predicted a wet wave in the state during the next five days.
A landslide occurred in Kotli district after intermittent rains for the past three days. The cowshed was completely damaged, while large rocks and debris remain precariously perched on the hillside.

Light to moderate rain in Maharashtra
The IMD on Sunday forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada districts. It also said that light rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in North Madhya Maharashtra districts.
The Regional Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Latur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Osmanabad for thunderstorms and lightning on March 23.

Meanwhile, the IMD also said that isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely to continue over northeast India till March 26, with isolated heavy rains likely on March 24 over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
