Scott MacFarlane has found his next job after CBS News.
MacFarlane, who was a CBS News justice correspondent and left the company nine days ago, announced Monday that he will join MeidasTouch Network, a digital media company that describes itself as practicing “pro-democracy” journalism and has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
In a video posted on social media, MacFarlane said he will be MeidasTouch’s chief correspondent in Washington, and will also present a daily program called Scott MacFarlane reports.
“I’m not an opinion maker, I’m not an editor. I’m not political at all. I’m a corporate reporter. I have been for a quarter of a century. What I’m going to do is present these enterprise reports to all the components of the MeidasTouch network, and all the contributors to the MeidasTouch network,” MacFarlane said in a message posted to X.
He added: “It is important to stress how important this moment is, this moment of unique political toxicity and unique political danger. MeidasTouch and I have long shared the same philosophy – you don’t promote lies. You don’t promote conspiracy theories. And you don’t allow history to be whitewashed.”
In a note on LinkedIn announcing his departure from CBS, MacFarlane said it was his decision to leave CBS and added, “I look forward to some independence and finding new spaces to share my work in alignment with my personal goals.” His departure came as editor-in-chief Barry Weiss reshaped the network following the Paramount Skydance merger. As part of that, CBS laid off about six percent of staff on Friday.
