Tipra Mutha Party founder Pradyut Kishore Debbarma on Monday said his party will not enter into an alliance for the Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections unless there is an assurance of implementation of the Triprasa Agreement.

Voting to elect the 28 members of TAADC is scheduled to take place on April 12, and the counting of votes will take place on April 17.
Debbarma, whose party is in power in the state in a BJP-led coalition, said his alliance was only with his community. “I cannot ally with any party without obtaining guarantees on the implementation of the TIPRASA agreement,” he said in a video message published on Monday. “I cannot betray our people. I will fight for my people and will never compromise the interests of my next generation.” TIPRA Motha won the TTAADC election in 2021.
The Indigenous Front of Tripura (IPFT), which is also part of the state-level coalition, announced that it will contest nine seats. The BJP did not make any announcement in this context in light of its talks with the Debbarma Party.
The last date for submitting candidates for the elections is next March 25, while March 26 will be for checking their nomination papers. The last date for withdrawing nomination papers is March 28, according to the state Election Commission.
The Left Front has already announced its 27 candidates: 25 from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and one each from the Communist Party of India and the Party of Revolutionary Socialists.
