Alex Warren talks about the 2016 Grammy incident

While speaking with PEOPLE about his career, Warren revealed that the night of the 2016 Grammy Awards was probably one of the scariest nights of his life. Due to technical difficulties, he ended up making mistakes on stage while performing “Ordinary.”

This led him to believe at the time that his career in the music industry was essentially over. “I was really surprised that so many people reached out to me that day. I think when you’re in these places, and there are all these important people, you kind of think…I walk into that room, and I think everyone hates me for some reason.” He added that the team trained for the performance all week, and everything was fine.

He still doesn’t know what really happened on the night of the holiday. “We rehearsed it all week,” he recalled of his reactions on the night of his first appearance at the Grammys. “They were like, ’30 seconds,’ and I was like, ‘I can’t hear anything.’ “I can’t hear myself,” and the guy says, “It’s live TV, 25 seconds,” and I say, “Guys, something’s wrong,” and something goes off in the left ear, and I hear nothing in the right ear, and I say, “Guys, I can’t hear.”
