An Air Canada Express plane collided with a ground vehicle at LaGuardia Airport in New York, FlightRadar24 reported Monday.The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has suspended all flights at the airport, according to a notice from the agency.
Local reports stated that an Air Canada Express CRJ-900 plane, heading from Montreal, collided with a fire engine on Runway 4 during landing.The FAA notice also indicated there was a high likelihood the airport closure would be extended, without providing further details, highlighting the severity of the incident.It is feared that a number of people may be injured in the accident.According to reports, the accident occurred on runway 4.
LaGuardia’s website showed that incoming planes were being diverted to other airports or returned to their original home. In a separate notice to pilots, the Federal Aviation Administration said the airport may remain closed until 1800 GMT. Unverified footage posted on social media showed damage to the front of the plane as it tilted upward.
