Got an “important transaction” email? The Income Tax Department says to ignore it for now, and the reform is underway

The Income Tax Department on Saturday asked taxpayers to ignore emails, if any, they received alerting them about “important transactions” as part of the advance tax e-drive.In a post on“We are actively working to resolve this issue in coordination with our service provider. In the meantime, taxpayers are requested to ignore previous email communications related to the advance tax e-campaign for the fiscal year 2026-27 (FY2025-26),” the CDB said.March 15 is the deadline to pay the fourth installment of advance tax for the fiscal year 2025-2026.The Board explained that the communications are intended to serve as facilitating reminders to help taxpayers review the relevant financial information available on the Compliance Portal and, where appropriate, ensure appropriate advance tax compliance.It advised taxpayers to check their transaction details through the “e-campaign” tab on the compliance portal, which can be accessed via the e-filing portal.
